Welcome to the French and Indian War! Also known as the Seven Years War (which lasted much longer than 7 years). I told you guys they are awful at naming things in history! Heck, the French and Indian War wasn't a war between the Indians and French. They fought as allies AGAINST the British and Colonists. Weird. This was a large battle between Great Britain and France, which ultimately pulled in the Natives and Colonist. It started in 1754 and ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. The war provided Great Britain enormous territorial gains in North America, but disputes over subsequent frontier policy and paying the war’s expenses led to colonial discontent, and ultimately to the American Revolution. This battle between the two large European powers drove the British into a huge war debt. Leaving them with one option, tax the colonist! The French and Indian war is the war that makes America! It's about to get spicy.
